Dr Richard Butler is lecturer in modern Irish urban history at the Centre for Urban History, University of Leicester. He is also Secretary of the Society for the Study of Nineteenth-Century Ireland (SSNCI). His PhD is from the University of Cambridge. While on his Fulbright Student Award at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2014-15, Richard completed his doctoral studies on the history of Irish public architecture from c. 1750-1850, working with Prof. James S. Donnelly, Jr., one of the leading scholars of Irish history in the United States. Richard is also on the Board of the Irish-US Alumni Association (IUSA). Find out more here.
