Associate Professor Nerys Williams lectures in American Literature at University College, Dublin. Nerys is the author of Contemporary Poetry (Edinburgh UP, 2011) and Reading Error: The Lyric and Contemporary American Poetry (Peter Lang, 2007). Her first volume of poetry, Sound Archive (Seren, 2011) won the Irish ‘Strong’ prize in 2012 and was nominated for a Forward first volume prize. Her second volume, Cabaret was published by New Dublin Press in 2017.
Articles and chapters examine how contemporary American poetry represents the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. Nerys is currently researching a monograph examining the relationship of American poets to the BBC’s Third Programme.
Professor Williams undertook research as a Fulbright Scholar to the University of California, Berkeley in 2006, .
