Dr Gary Gimmestad is an instructor in Professional Education at Georgia Tech, where he led an award-winning team of atmospheric lidar (laser radar) researchers for 29 years and held a chaired position in electro-optics for 13 years. He holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the University of Colorado and publishes in a variety of technical journals. He is a fellow of the IEEE, OSA, and SPIE and is currently completing a lidar textbook for Cambridge University Press. As a Fulbright Scholar he will teach a graduate class in his specialty, atmospheric lidar, and collaborate on research with staff at NUI Galway.
