Celina Flocks Monaghan holds a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in global health practice from the University of South Florida. She earned her BSc degree in International Affairs from the Florida State University. Her graduate thesis focused on developing sustainable methods for drought mitigation in rural Uganda. Her previous research has addressed health disparities and access to health services within vulnerable populations such as migrant farmworkers and urban Congolese refugees in the southern United States. As an awardee of the Fulbright-Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland’’s (RCSI) PhD award, Celina will work in the area of population health with a focus on global healthcare solutions in resource limited settings. Her PhD work will be supported by the newly developed RCSI Institute of Global Surgery. She looks forward to collaborating with world renowned global health researchers, and getting to explore Ireland from coast to coast.
