Press Release
For Immediate Release
Tuesday 24 January 2017: Through the Fulbright Engage Video Competition, the Fulbright Commission in Ireland seeks submissions from students of Multimedia / Design to develop and deliver a fresh and engaging short (1-2 minute) video that will promote the Fulbright Irish Awards and showcase creative talent in Ireland. The application deadline has been extended to 5pm Monday 6th March 2017.
The competition winner will receive a generous prize which includes a one-week trip to Manhattan in New York, including return flights, accommodation and spending money, plus an opportunity to visit The Museum of Modern Art, New York, to shadow the MoMA Design Studio team, and to visit the School of Media Studies at The New School, to take part in classroom visits, tour of facilities, meetings with students and faculty.
Video production costs are included in the prize money, and the winning campaign will be showcased on the Fulbright Ireland website and social media channels. The aim of the campaign is to showcase the talent amongst creative students in Ireland, and to raise awareness of the Fulbright Irish Awards, which annually offer grants and support for Irish and E.U. citizens to undertake study, research or teaching the USA.
The Executive Director of the Fulbright Commission in Ireland Dr Dara FitzGerald said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for a young creative student to showcase their talent and get their name into the public arena. It is a unique chance to visit New York and learn about the work that goes on in the renowned creative departments of MoMA and The New School. These visits will no doubt have a great impact on the student’s professional career. The winner, and indeed all applicants, will also learn about the value Fulbright can bring to them and to the creative arts ecosystem.”
The Fulbright Engage Video Competition is open to current undergraduate and postgraduate students, or graduates who completed their studies in 2016, in the areas of multimedia, film, animation, design or other relevant fields.
Applicants must be Irish citizens, or E.U. citizens who have been resident in the Republic of Ireland for the last three years. Videos may include animation, stop motion, voxpops, sizzle reels, interviews with Fulbright Alumni, or other innovative media.
