E.U.-U.S. Young Leaders Seminar on the Security Implications of Climate Change

For the past seven years, the Fulbright Commission in Brussels has worked with colleagues on both sides of the Atlantic to organize the E.U.-U.S. Young Leaders Seminar. The event, co-financed by the European Commission and the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, represents a unique opportunity for young leaders from across the United States and the European Union to discuss some of the most important issues facing both sides of the Atlantic. Since its inception, over 300 alumni of U.S. and EU-funded educational exchange programs have participated in the Young Leaders Seminar. Previous iterations of the seminar have focused on topics such as migration, the future of work, disinformation and media literacy, the future of cities, the future of democracy, and active civic participation.

The seventh edition of the E.U.-U.S. Young Leaders Seminar, focused on the “Security Implications of Climate Change”, took place from 20-23 March 2024.

2023-2024 Fulbright U.S. Awardee Anne Graf attended the E.U.-U.S. Young Leaders Seminar.

"I really enjoyed the seminar, and meeting other Fulbrighters & Erasmus-mundus participants.  It was a very interesting and international group, and I felt incredibly lucky to have been nominated and allowed to go.  The seminar focused on the Security Implications of Climate Change. I've always been concerned about the environment, so it was interesting to hear the security perspective. There was also a heavy focus on what we, as young leaders, could do, including a workshop specifically aimed at that notion."
