2023-2024 Fulbright Irish Awards Launched Today!
Wednesday 31st August 2022: The 2023-2024 Fulbright Irish Awards were launched today with an application deadline of Thursday 27th October 2022.
The Fulbright Commission is eager to engage and energize Irish students, scholars and professionals with a suite of opportunities that make up the Fulbright Irish Awards 2023-2024. With a Fulbright Award, students, scholars and professionals can develop their academic or professional careers in the United States and engage in high-level research while serving as cultural ambassadors and building links between the U.S. and Ireland. Fulbright alumni join a distinguished international network.
New Award: Fulbright-Teagasc Scholar and Professional Award
This year we announce a new Fulbright-Teagasc Scholar and Professional Award that offers the opportunity for a scholar or professional to research or lecture at a U.S. Higher Education institution or organisation in the fields of agriculture, food, forestry, or the environment.
Fulbright Awards
The Fulbright Awards provide academic and career opportunities for Irish and EU students and professionals with 5+ years relevant experience to study, research, or teach with experts at a U.S. institution or organisation.
The vision and ethos of the Fulbright Commission is to strengthen Irish and American collaboration and inspire minds to create a global culture of understanding and solidarity by nurturing academic and professional excellence, expertise and leadership.
Fulbright Alumni have achieved success and earned accolades in government, science, the arts, business, philanthropy, education, and athletics. Global Fulbright Alumni include 61 Nobel Prize recipients, 89 Pulitzer Prize winners, and 40 recipients who have served as a head of state or in government.
Fulbright places an emphasis on cultural engagement, collaboration, long-term academic and professional connections, and strong alumni participation by selecting excellent candidates from across Ireland to work with a diversity of U.S. Higher Education institutions and organisations.
The Fulbright Commission in Ireland partners with local and international agencies to offer additional awards in the areas of Health, Social Justice, Culture and Heritage, Geoscience, Agri-food, Environmental Protection, Business & Innovation, Law, Cybersecurity and the Irish language.
Who is eligible?
The Awards are open to Irish and EU students and professionals with 5+ years relevant experience from all disciplines and backgrounds.
Successful candidates receive a monetary stipend, travel costs, accident and emergency insurance, visa administration support, cultural and professional programming, and an introduction to a vast international professional and academic network. The Commission is committed to fairness, equity, and inclusion and encourages applications from people from diverse backgrounds to all its schemes, programmes and activities.

Dé Céadaoin an 31ú Lúnasa 2022: Seoladh na Scoláireachtaí Fulbright 2023-24 inniu leis an 27ú Deireadh Fómhair 2022 mar spriocdháta.
Tá an Coimisiún Fulbright ar bís chun mic léinn, scoláirí agus daoine gairmiúla a spreagadh le deiseanna éagsúla sna Gradaim Fulbright 2023-24. Le Gradaim Fulbright tig leat do ghairm a fhorbairt sna Stáit Aontaithe agus tabhairt faoi thaighde ardleibhéal nuair atá tú ag gníomhú mar Ambasadóir Cultúrtha agus ag tógáil nascanna leis na Stáit Aontaithe agus an tír seo. Glacann alumni Fulbright páirt i gclár idirnáisiúnta faoi leith.
Gradaim nua: Scoláire Fulbright -Teagasc
I mbliana táimid ag seoladh gradaim nua a chuireann deis ar fáil do scoláire nó do dhuine gairmiúil tabhairt faoi thaighde nó faoi mhúineadh in Ollscoil nó eagraíocht sa réimse talamhaíocht, foraoiseacht, bia nó timpeallacht.
Na Gradaim Fulbright
Cuireann an Clár Fulbright deiseanna ar fáil do mhic léinn agus do scoláirí Éireannacha agus ón Aontas Eorpach a bhfuil ar a laghad 5 bliana de thaithí ábhartha chun taighde, staidéar nó múineadh in eagraíocht nó institúid sna Stáit Aontaithe.
Tá sé mar aidhm agus mar fhís ag Fulbright caidrimh leanúnacha agus caidrimh idirnáisiúnta a chruthú, cabhrú le tuiscint a fháil agus obair le chéile ar spriocanna coitianta chun cultúr domhanda de chomhthuiscint agus de dhlúthpháirtíocht trí scoláireacht, gairmiúlacht, sainspéise agus ceannaireacht.
I measc na alumna, tá neart rudaí iontacha bainte amach acu i réimsí éagsúla, sa rialtas, eolaíocht, na healaíona, gnó, daonchairdeas, oideachas agus luathchleasaíocht. I measc na ndaoine a bhain na gradaim seo amach tá 61 dóibh ann le Duaiseanna Nobel, 89 a bhain duaiseanna Pulitzer amach agus 40 atá nó a bhí mar Príomh-Aire Rialtas.
Le béim ar an tumoideachais chultúrtha agus ag cur le gaolta acadúla agus gairmiúla, roghnaíonn Fulbright daoine iontacha ar fud na hÉireann le hoibriú le hInstitúidí den scoth sna Stáit Aontaithe.
Tá na Gradaim Fulbright ar oscailt do chuile réimse agus cúlra. I mbliana, chuaigh an Coimisiún in Éirinn i gcomhpháirtíocht le cúpla gníomhaireacht le gradaim sa bhreis a chuir ar fáil maidir le Sláinte, Ceartas Sóisialta, Cultúr, Geo-eolaíocht, Talamhaíocht, Cosant Comhshaoil, Nuálaíocht Gnó, Dlí agus an Ghaeilge.
Cé atá in ann iarratas a dhéanamh?
Tá na Gradaim ar oscailt do mhic léinn aus scoláirí le breis agus 5 bliana de thaithí i ngach réimse spéise agus cúlraí.
Bainfidh na hiarrathóirí a éiríonn leo deontas airgeadais, árachas timpistí agus éigeandáil, riarachán víosa, seisiún tionscnaimh cultúrtha agus gairmiúla, tacaíocht leanúnach agus iad ar an Dámhachtán Fulbright sna Stáit Aontaithe agus fáiltiú go dtí an greasán gairmiúil agus acadúil atá ag Fulbright. Tá an Coimisiún tiomanta do chothromas agus tá siad ag lorg iarratas ó dhaoine ó chúlraí eagúla i ngach scéim agus clár.

An tOllamh Diane Negra, Cathaoirleach Choimisiún Fulbright na hÉireann: “Mar Chathaoirleach ar an gCoimisiún Fulbright, is mian liom mic léinn agus scoláirí i ngach réimse a spreagadh le smaoineamh ar na gradaim ar fad atá ar fáil le linn 2023-24. Cuireann na gradaim seo deiseanna eagsúla ar fáil a thugann aghaidh ar na rudaí a bhaineann linn ar fad, agus a aimsíonn réiteach ar na fadhbanna domhanda. Tá stair fairsing ag Fulbright i dtaobh seo”.
Dúirt Stiúrthóir Feidhmiúcháin an Choimisiúin, an Dr Dara FitzGerald: “Tá béim i gcónaí ar éagsúlacht, cuimsiú agus cothromas. Is rudaí iad seo a chuireann le hoideachas, a chuireann lena ngairm agus a thacaíonn leo agus iad ag cur leis an saol sna Stáit Aontaithe agus sa bhaile. Tá bród ar an gCoimisiún maidir lenár bproiséis iarratais agus agallaimh. Mar thoradh ar seom tá an t-ádh linn gach bliain chun na daoine is fearr a fháil i dtaobh éitis Fulbright. Tá tacaíocht iomlán againn ó Rialtas na hÉireann agus ó ghrúpaí difriúla. Cuireann sé seo le maoiniú agus le heagsúlacht. An ndéanfaidh tú iarratas? An mbeadh tú mar chuid de na mílte atá mar cheannairí timpeall na cruinne?”.
Dúirt Kellee Farmer, Gnóthaí Poiblí, Ambasáid na Stát Aontaithe i mBaile Átha Cliath: “Is é an Clár Fulbright an príomhchlár malartú oideachas agus cultúr de chuid rialtas na Stát Aontaithe. Tá an Clár Fulbright ag imirt ról an-tábhachtach i gcur leis an gcaidreamh uathúil idir Éirinn agus na Stát Aontaithe. Tá an clár iontach tábhachtach i neartú an chaidrimh uathúil atá ag na Stáit Aontaithe le hÉire- caidreamh atá ríthábhachtach dúinn”.
Dúirt an tAire Gnóthaí Eachtracha agus Cosanta, Simon Coveney TD: “Ón am a buníoadh é, tá Fulbright tar éis deiseanna a thabhairt do na mílte daoine tabhairt faoi mhalartú oideachasúil idir Éirinn agus na Stát Aontaithe. Roinn lucht Fulbright a smaointe agus cultúr agus iad i mbun taighde ag iarraidh teacht ar réiteach ar fhadhbanna idirnáisiúnta. Tá bród an domhain orainn i Rialtas na hÉireann na Gradaim le haghaidh 2023-24 a sheoladh agus táimid ag súil go mór leis na torthaí a fheiceáil”.
