TEDxFulbrightDublin 2018 to Share Ideas on the ‘Notion of a Nation’
Monday 16 July, 2018: TEDxFulbrightDublin 2018 will take place on Sunday 9th September in the Tivoli Theatre Dublin with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Ireland, the Fulbright Commission in Ireland, the Irish Fulbright Alumni Association and Geological Survey Ireland.
This will be the third TEDxFulbright to take place in Ireland. The theme will address our ‘Notion of a Nation’. Tickets go on sale at 9am, Tuesday 17th July at www.tedxfulbrightdublin.ie. Previous TEDxFulbrightDublin events sold out in a matter of minutes, so early booking is advised.
TEDxFulbrightDublin curates a diverse range of speakers spanning science, technology, the arts, humanities and performance. It exposes exceptional ‘Ideas Worth Sharing’ from rising members, established alumni and friends of the Fulbright community.
Organised by Fulbright Alumnus Dr Lorcan Walsh and Emma Loughney of the Fulbright Commission in Ireland, TEDxFulbrightDublin aims to reconnect the wider Fulbright community and reach out to others who want to share creative new ideas. Talks from TEDxFulbrightDublin 2016 were selected as TEDx editors pick of the week and promoted to the TED.com site receiving over 1.2 million views.
The event will coincide with the opening of the 2019-2020 Fulbright Irish Awards application period running 31 August to 6 November 2018. The Fulbright Program has driven collaboration between Ireland and the U.S. for more than 60 years. To date, over 2000 individuals have taken part in this scholarship programme between the two countries. TED, which started in 1984 as a conference on Technology, Entertainment, and Design, seeks to share good ideas on all topics through short, but contagious, talks. TEDx is the platform for local organizers to create their own TED-style event
The 2018 event will have a strong focus on audience participation and development of a local network to continue sharing ideas. Speakers will be announced over the coming weeks, follow the conversation on Twitter #TEDxFulbrightDublin!
