25 Meán Fómhair 2015: Ar an gCéadaoin, an 30ú Meán Fómhair, tionólfaidh Coimisiún Fulbright na hÉireann seisiún eolais maidir le deiseanna maoinithe do theagasc agus do thaighde Gaeilge i Stáit Aontaithe Mheiriceá. Reáchtálfar an ócáid i bhfoirgneamh Fhoras na Gaeilge ag 7 Cearnóg Mhuirfean, Baile Átha Cliath 2, ó 4.30-6pm. RSVP awards@fulbright.ie
I measc na gcainteoirí a bheidh i láthair ag an ócáid beidh an tAire Stáit do Ghnóthaí Gaeltachta sa Roinn Ealaíon, Oidhreachta agus Gaeltachta, Joe McHugh T.D., Bainisteoir Dhámhachtainí Choimisiún Fulbright agus Iar-chúntóir Teagaisc Teanga de chuid Fulbright, Lisa Nic an Bhreithimh, agus painéal de cheathrar Iar-chúntóirí Teagaisc Teanga Fulbright. Cloisfidh daoine a bheidh i láthair faoi ghníomhaíochtaí Gaeilge atá ar bun sna Stáit Aontaithe inniu agus na deiseanna atá ar fáil do lucht labhartha na Gaeilge trí Choimisiún Fulbright.
Cuireann Dámhachtainí Fulbright do Chúntóirí Teagaisc i dTeangacha Iasachta (FLTA), atá á maoiniú ag an Roinn Ealaíon Oidhreachta agus Gaeltachta agus ag an gCrannchur Náisiúnta, deontais ar fáil do shaoránaigh na hÉireann agus an AE a bhfuil Gaeilge líofa acu chun an Ghaeilge a mhúineadh sna Stáit Aontaithe ar feadh tréimhse 9-10 mí. I measc na n-iarrthóirí ar éirigh leo go dtí seo bhí mic léinn iarchéime, múinteoirí bunscoile, teagascóirí 3ú leibhéal agus gairmithe eile. Tá an tréimhse iarratais do Dhámhachtainí 2016-2017 oscailte anois le spriocdháta de 30ú Deireadh Fómhair 2015.
Dúirt an tAire Stáit do Ghnóthaí Gaeltachta sa Roinn Ealaíon Oidhreachta agus Gaeltachta, Joe McHugh T.D., faoi Dhámhachtainí FLTA Fulbright na hÉireann, “Is deis iontach na dámhachtainí seo do Chainteoirí Gaeilge le cáilíochtaí tríú leibhéal a ngairmeacha a fhorbairt sna Stáit Aontaithe agus a dteanga agus a gcultúr a chur i láthair daoine nua thar lear. Dá bhrí sin, áitím ar mhúinteoirí Gaeilge, go háirithe iad siúd i gceantair Ghaeltachta, a bheith i láthair ag an ócáid seo agus smaoineamh ar chur isteach ar cheann de na scoláireachtaí luachmhara seo.”

Irish Language Opportunities in the USA
Funding Available through the Fulbright Awards
Friday 25 September 2015: On Wednesday 30th of September, the Fulbright Commission of Ireland will host an information session on funding opportunities for Irish Language teaching and research in the USA. The event will take place at the Foras na Gaeilge building on 7 Merrion Square, Dublin 2 from 4.30-6pm. If you would like to attend RSVP to awards@fulbright.ie.
Speakers at the event will include The Minister of State at the Department of Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht Affairs, Joe McHugh T.D., Fulbright Commission Awards Manager and FLTA Alumna, Ms Lisa Nic an Bhreithimh, and a panel consisting of four Fulbright FLTA Alumni. Attendees will hear about Irish language activity in the US today and the opportunities available to Irish language speakers through the Fulbright Commission.
The Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Awards, sponsored by the Department of Arts, Heritage & the Gaeltacht and the National Lottery, provide grants for Irish or E.U. citizens with fluent Irish, to teach the Irish language in the United States for a period of 9-10 months. Successful candidates to date have ranged from graduate students, to primary school teachers, 3rd level tutors and other professionals. The application period for 2016-2017 Awards is now open with a deadline of 30th October 2015.
The Minister of State at the Department of Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht Affairs, Joe McHugh T.D. said of the Fulbright Irish FLTA Awards:
“These awards represent a wonderful opportunity for Irish speakers with third-level qualifications both to develop their careers in the United States and to bring their language and culture to a new audience abroad. I would, therefore, encourage teachers of Irish, particularly those in Gaeltacht areas, to attend this event and to consider applying for one of these valuable scholarships.”
